The Companions Guild is the oldest and most venerated of the Guilds, with roots reaching back to the ancient origins of civilization on Earth-That-Was.

One of the most rigorous and regulated of the Guilds, training in art, philosophy, music, dance, and other entertainments and disciplines begins from the age of 12.

Entrance into the Guild can only begin once the age of majority is attained, and once the entrance exams are passed and the inspection fee has been paid.

While once restricted only to women, the Guild now admits members who represent all expressions of gender and sexuality to the organization, as an acknowledgement that the role of Companion is not restricted to sexual acts alone.

Their title is one of the most esteemed in the ‘Verse, with the highest level of respect given to them on all worlds. A Companion is one who can move unhindered through any society or environment, with Guild Registry papers recognized by governments and warlords alike. Their power is such that any client who earns a black mark in their Client Registry will never be contracted by a Guild member again.

As part of their tightly regulated Guild, each Companion must undergo a yearly registration exam and physical wellness check, both for their own safety and that of their clients.

Along with their years of education in the arts and other studies, Companions live in a Guild Temple, where they learn their sacred rituals, and practice self-control, spend time in meditation, and receive psychological training.

Motto: Hearkening back to the temple priestesses of ancient Earth-That-Was, this influence is reflected in the credo composed of the Babylonian words for Companionship (Kuli), Serenity (Šulmum), and Pleasurable Delight (Ulṣu) which is also associated with erotic desire and joy.

Symbolism: Their credo is also represented by the tricolored Sakura blossoms and buds on the branch, Pink for Kuli, Blue for Šulmum, and Purple for Ulṣu. The three colors also represent the range of gender and sexual expression in human beings.

An outstanding Companion may be called a “Cherry Blossom” as an honorific and acknowledgement of their elevated status, beauty, and skill.

Within the heart of each blossom is an emblem representative of the founding Core planet of Sihnon, in the White Sun system. The white center is surrounded by many branches representing the Guild Temples which are scattered throughout the Verse, yet still connected to the ideals, practices, and structure of the Guild.

Flowing through the branch is a silken scarf which is symbolic of the softness and strength of the Companions, as well as the artistry and talent from their years of training.

Chinese: Tóngbàn gōnghuì – “Companions Guild”
同伴公会

Location: Sihnon, White Sun – Sihnon is the third planet of the White Sun system, orbiting the White Sun. White Sun, or Bai Hu (the White Tiger of the West), is the central star of the ‘Verse.
